In response to yesterday’s update of the SXSW list of showcase bands, I’ve pushed out a new revision of the SXSW Artist Catalog, that highlights the 500 most recent additions. New bands include The Decemberists, Razorlight, Third Eye Blind and Bowling for Soup. There are going to be a lot of good bands at the festival.

Its nice to have a catalog of the bands playing around so a person knows what bands are playing were and were they are from.

Paul, your catalog was so immensely helpful last year! Do you have plans to do it again this year? (please say yes!)

Justin Yes! (In fact I am working on it just now). This year, it should be even better, with real recommendations, detailed venue schedule info, info on unofficial acts and features for the mobile user (“What bands that I would like are playing within .5 miles of where I am now in the next hour?”). If you have any ideas for features you’d like to see please let me know.

Awesome!
What about some sort of stat so you could discover bands liked by people who seemed to like what you like?
Looking forward to starting my SXSW homework when your catalog comes out.
